Monaghan’s Landscaping has served Portland homeowners since 1987. We specialize in retaining walls, sod and turf installation, paver patios, sprinkler systems, drainage solutions, and full landscape design for residential and commercial properties across the metro area. Our Story
In 1987, Jamie Monaghan was a single working father of a four-year-old boy, struggling to make ends meet. Though he didn’t have much experience in the business world, he decided to start his own company. What he had was a hard-working, tenacious, and fighting spirit.
Jamie applied for his Landscape Contractor’s Board (LCB) license and, shortly after that, began beautifying yards. Learning on the job and fighting his way through obstacles, Jamie grew his company slowly at first but steadily. Nothing could stop Jamie from pushing through to success.
Jamie first met Colette when they were six in first grade and finally married in January of 2016. Together they’ve built a business that’s a fixture in the community.
Nearly four decades later, the same values Jamie built this company on still drive how we operate today: show up when you say you will, do what you said you’d do, and put it all in writing so the homeowner never has to wonder. Every Monaghan’s project starts with a detailed written estimate and ends with a 3-year workmanship warranty. That’s not a marketing promise. It’s how Jamie has always run this business.

We're committed to using clean, renewable energy. All-electric mowers, trimmers, and blowers running at 65-70 dB, roughly the volume of a normal conversation. Most landscaping crews show up with gas equipment at 85+ decibels with exhaust fumes drifting into open windows. We don't think that's acceptable anymore. No fumes. No noise complaints. Just the work getting done.
